Welcome
My name is Lee Sims. I use the pronouns he/him.
I am a fully qualified, insured counsellor and psychotherapist who holds registered membership with The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I offer Single Session, Short-Term or Long-Term therapy. I believe in the benefits that clients can experience in having therapeutic conversations in a safe, boundaried and non-judgmental space.

I work with clients aged 13 and above.
I specialise in providing counselling services for those who are struggling with anxiety, have suffered trauma and those clients struggling with transitions in their life.
Such transitions could be:
-
Preparing for or leaving education.
-
Relationship breakdowns.
-
Changes in the family dynamics.
-
Bereavement.
-
Difficulties and challenges in being a parent.

I want you to know that as a therapist, this is what I will do for you as a potential client:
-
Always put YOU the client first.
-
Structure a therapy session how you prefer it to be structured, so if you want me to lead a session whilst you find your feet, no problem!
-
Not leave long silences throughout sessions (although some are good whilst we are both reflecting on our thoughts).
-
Check in at the end of the session to make sure we are covering the things you need to work through and that I am understanding you properly.
-
Always be honest and considerate in any conversations that we have.
-
Be open about my own limitations as a therapist and a human and how that might be playing out in the therapy space.
-
Be authentic in the way I communicate.

How I Work

Person Centred
Do you have feelings that don't seem to match your actions? Concerns over your self-worth?

Together we can look at how interactions with your environments and others may be shaping the way you feel about yourself.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Have you noticed that when faced with a situation, your immediate thought process is negative? Do you notice yourself following the same difficult patterns of thinking or jumping to conclusions without any evidence?

We can examine these thinking patterns, why they might occur and how to move past them.

Attachment Theory
When dealing with a stressful situation, is it possible that you avoid dealing with it or find yourself responding in an aggressive manner?

Your attachment to others, which may have developed throughout childhood could explain these actions. Working together, we can take the time to understand and process these behaviours.
